Estancia Nueva Vida

The Nueva Vida After School Enrichment Program serves disadvantaged elementary school age girls (five to twelve years old) in the south of Merida from 12:30 to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year. The girls receive a nutritious lunch and snack and follow a schedule that includes time for chores, values classes, help with their homework, enrichment classes such as English, computers and crafts, and bathing and resting.

Mission Statement: We embrace the girls entrusted to our care. We provide a safe, healthy and caring environment, excellent academic support and a positive community. We promote the development of vital attitudes and skills that help the girls to become women with healthy relationships, dignified work and fulfilled dreams.

La Estancia Nueva Vida atiende a niñas de bajos recursos económicos de edad escolar (de cinco a doce años) en el sur de Mérida de 12:30 a 7:00 p.m. de lunes a viernes durante el año escolar. Las niñas reciben un almuerzo y merienda nutritivos y siguen un horario que incluye tiempo para tareas domésticas, clases de valores, ayuda con sus tareas, clases de enriquecimiento como inglés, computadoras y manualidades, y tiempo para bañarse y descansar.

Declaración de misión: Abrazamos a las niñas encomendadas a nuestro cuidado. Proveemos un ambiente seguro, sano y cariñoso, excelente apoyo educativo y una comunidad positiva. Fomentamos el desarrollo de actitudes y destrezas vitales que ayudan a las niñas a hacerse mujeres con relaciones sanas, trabajos dignos y sueños realizados.

Merida English Library Children’s Programs

The Merida English Library children’s program is committed to promoting reading and early literacy for our youngest community members. The library offers a Storytime program, free and open to the public, every Wednesday and Saturday morning. The program, which involves songs, stories, and art activities, reaches between 15 and 25 families every week. The library also offers free storytime and literacy workshops to local schools during the academic year. Last year, the library facilitated workshops for over 400 local school children.
