6–Luz Maria Viera Castro – Education in the Yucatan and Mexico  – Learn the facts about the education system in Mexico from someone who has spent her life working at all educational levels. Ms. Castro will talk about what informal and formal education systems exist, how urban and rural education differs, how you become a teacher in Mexico, is it true that positions are inherited and bought,  what is the SNTE and the CNTE, and how have recent reforms impacted education.

Aliza Mizrahi, has multiple degrees from Berkeley (chemistry), Yale (forestry and environmental studies),  Escuela de Agricultura Ecologica Uyits Ka’an (organic agriculture).
