The Mérida English Library (MEL) is a not-for-profit organization offering a variety of cultural, educational, informational and social programs, services, and events to the English-speaking community in the Yucatán, irrespective of their level of English language proficiency. The cornerstone of MEL is a lending library that provides English-language material in all formats normally available from a traditional library.
The Mérida English Library operates with volunteers! Volunteers serve on the Board, staff the front desk, organize and lead the activities, give lectures and serve as consultants in their fields of expertise.
Some Volunteer Positions
Circulation Desk
The circulation desk is the heart of the library. Volunteers process materials, collect fines and payments, help members and visitors find the information they need, and manage library memberships.
Help Desk
As a Help Desk volunteer, you'll provide a valuable service to our visitors. You will give library tours, distribute information about events, and give advice on local services, shops and restaurants.
Activity Planning
“Many hands make light work", as the saying goes, and this is certainly true of our most popular library activities. We are in need of dedicated volunteers to help with our children's activities, organize lectures & presentations, and work during events.
